Sonny-boy had a great time this weekend hangin out with Grandmommy.(Daddys mommy!) It amazed me how attached he got to her in such a short time. She had him smilin and gigglin right from the start. Of course it really wasn't a surprise. This is my mom. She's been such a huge influence in my life, I'm sure he recognized her as soon as he looked into her eyes. It was a great visit. Look at that smile in the last picture. Between Sonias mom and mine, if we're not careful, this kid will be s-p-o-i-l-e-d!

"...Bueller?....Bueller?"
Like Ferris I had the day off today (for brother Martin's birthday). It seems to have special meaning this year because of our president elect. It is an exciting time in our history, but for me, today was all about spending time with Sonny-boy and Sonia. We took our family nap, played together, and looked out at the snow. It gets no better than that! Anyway here's a few pictures starting with the most recent. It's me and Xavier checking out the blog just a little while ago. He liked looking at the pictures. I wonder if he recognizes himself.
Here's a quick look at our block. I shovelled for the first time since we've been here this afternoon. Funny, I actually missed having a driveway to shovel. Apartment livin was o.k., but there's nothing like having room to breathe. Our place is the second one in from the left.
Here's Sonia and Baby-boy, in one of their many bonding moments. Man, he loves his mama. That makes two of us.
Looks like Lil' Xav' has a favorite snugglebuddy. It's his giraffe "JEROME!" (say it like Morris Day from the Time) Aint he cute?

bub eatin'
Here's a video of Xavier eating banana's and rice cereal mixed together. He doesn't like to eat the rice cereal on it's own so I have to mix it together. He's getting the hang of opening up his mouth to eat for me. It was so cute the first few days of him eating. At first he would stick out his tongue in a u shape pushing the food out. It was just like when he's bottle feeding. I wish I had video of him eating like that it was the cutest thing. Bub's doctor instructed me to feed him baby food first and then give him the bottle. That worked out the first few days. I tried feeding him today and he took only a few bites and then started crying. I had his bottle warming in the sink so I had to drop everything, get him out of the swing(yes, he's being fed in his swing) and get the bottle. Had to test the bottle which was alittle on the hot side, Xavier crying. Fill the bowl with cold water, put the bottle in the water. Rocking the baby, shushing the baby, walk around the kitchen. Hoping the bottle is ready, Xavier crying, check the bottle again. Darn, the bottle is too cool, put bottle in hot water. Walk alittle more. Check the bottle. Not bad. Walk over to couch, put bottle down, sit baby up on my lap. He get's upset even more(for some reason he doesn't like sitting on my lap before I feed him), lay him back on my arm, baby crying, put bottle in mouth. Baby stops crying, mommy takes a deep sigh. He's eating more than two teaspoons now and as you can see by the sideways video, he opens up pretty well. I've been giving him alot of encouragment during his feedings which I know helps to keep the positive vibe going. After each feeding I've been demonstrating to him how to eat. I take a spoonful of food hold up for him, hold it about a foot away from me. I make sure I have his attention, then I tell him "this is how we eat". Then I make a very familiar sound that he recognizes which is "Aahh" as I put the spoon in my mouth. But without taking a bite I take the spoon back out. It's more like an instant replay of the action of food to mouth. You know, just like in sports when a player is shown being clobbered over and over again. The only difference with my replay and sports replay is that I don't show it in every possible angle that it can be seen in. Then I go on to mimic him by sticking my tongue out a bit with food on it, then opening...well I'll stop there. He really gets a kick out of watching me eat like this, he laughs and smiles. We have alot of fun together while I feed him. I'm just so proud of him and how he's really just coming along nicely with his development. God bless him he is still as sweet as ever and he sleeps through the night:)

new baby, new home, new year...
...WHEW!

what's up everyone! Big Daddy's in the buildin'! It's 2009, and after the 2008 we had over here, all I can say is God is the best of planners. We had our plans at this time last year, but what ended up happening I can honestly say was NOT on our drawing board. I'm pretty sure I speak for Sonia and Lil' X, when I say we like God's plan better!
As Sonia wrote Xavier got his shots last thursday. Above is a pic of him taking his baby tylenol to ease the discomfort of the ordeal. He took it like a man though. We're very proud of him.

This picture is a direct shout out to Auntie Tiara. How many times when you were a baby did you snatch the glasses off my face? As I leaned in to kiss my boy goodnight, no he didn't...yes he did snatch off my spec's! The good news is, he is developing his motor functions and grasping reflexes quite nicely...The bad news? I can't see.

Mommy and her lil' "Bubby"! Sonia is helpin' our little man get the hang of sitting up. He's catching on fast and it's getting harder to cradle him now. He's 4 months and he's really ready to be more mobile and self sufficient. When I hold him on my lap, he actually tries to slide off onto the floor! I'm like, "kiddo, where do you think you're going!?! You wont get far! You'll be back when the money runs out!!! or the diapers, whichever comes first!"

This is what you get when you go out to the store with Little one, and just happen to look down at him as you push him around in his little stroller, he's just smiling at you, happy to be here and totally coolin out. Yeah he's happy with us, but we're the blessed ones. And after all we've been through to see today, we'll never forget it. Happy new year everyone!

Back to the Doc's we go!

1/8/09 4th month check-up
Xavier took his shots like a real champ! He is 12lbs. 7 1/2oz, 25 1/2in.long.
He's 75% in his height, 25% in his weight. The nurse told us that he'd probably grow up to be tall and slim.
He started to eat food yesterday, rice cereal and bananas(those pic's coming soon!) The Doc heard a murmur while checking his heart, but says there's nothing to worry about and continued to reassure us. We're going to get it all checked out just to make sure. We're sure everything is fine with him.

Happy 4 mths. bub!
Last thursday at the pediatrician's office Xavier weighed 12lbs. and I can't remember exactly how many ounces, he's very close to 13lbs. We went to the Ped. because bub's eating habits had changed and he had become really fussy. At the visit the Doc had said if he didn't improve by this past monday to give him zantac. Well he has improved and I didn't need to give him any medication for his reflux.
Xavier's doing great! He's drooling, making tiny little spit bubbles and lifting up with his little hands when he is on his stomach. He still doesn't like to be on his belly for to long, but he last's alot longer than he use to. He's gotten alot better at grabbing objects and putting them directly in his mouth. He loves to laugh and have alot of fun all day until it's time for his nap. He is an absolute joy. He goes to bed around 7:30, 8:00 and stays sleep until 6:30, 7:00. I wake up missing him when Marc let's me sleep in on sundays. He likes to sleep on his side and sometimes on his side on his play gym while watching t.v. put's him right to sleep. And a few kisses always does the trick and a warm bottle while mom rocks him to sleep. At night after I feed him I put him on my shoulder and pat his back while he drifts away. I rest my head against his holding him close. Even after he burps I pat his back and just hold my little warm, cuddly teddy bear. It's so hard to put him down in his crib, I think I could stay there holding him for hours.
He loves when I sing row, row, row your boat and hickory dickory dock, he smiles and laughs in enjoyment. He loves his little musical giraffe that Marc and I bought for him while I was still pregnant. I'd put the giraffe against my stomach when Xavier was in my belly, thinking that he would recognize the sound and feel comforted when he was here. I named the giraffe Jerome(hee, hee), until Xavier chooses a name for him. The past couple of weeks or so, Xavier started wiggling and kicking his feet while I changed him. He was actually making it a lil' difficult for me. I remember thinking like, what's going on here? Why is he being so difficult? Then it finally came to me, he's growing up! He's getting older and stronger, gone are the days of him just laying on the changing table and letting me do whatever I wanted. This to is a milestone. He let's me know when I'm taking too much time changing him. He has his likes and dislikes and knows how to express himself alot more.
It's funny when X started growing out of his 0-3mth. clothes. I refused to think that he had grown out of his wrap around shirts and matching pants. Marc would repeatedly tell me that he doesn't fit in those clothes anymore, but I dressed X in those clothes anyway. After a few hours I noticed that the 2 piece outfit he was wearing looked a little drafty. His belly was poking out of his shirt like baby huey and the pants looked a lil' too snug. I couldn't put him to bed like that so I had to change him into 3-6mth. pajama's.
I held up his outgrown pj's, I needed a moment.
Marc and I just stared at the clothes and reminisced about just how tiny he was and how those days are now gone.
Of course we look forward to him growing, but we definitely hold on to each moment of every day that Xavier is with us. He is a true blessing. I've heard people saying that they cann't remember what life was like before they had a baby. I know it to be true. Being married for ten years I vaguely remember what it was like before Xavier. He is a blessing and a miracle there's not much else as incredible as that. It's hard to put into words, he's the apple of my eye, my pride and joy, he's the first, the last, my everything(Marc's in there too). I could go on and on but I'll stop here.
Thank you all for checking in and sharing our happiness!!! Love you all!!!
indulge yourself
We've finally moved in...
Well not completely. We still have some things in storage, but the place looks great already. I'm gonna make this fast because little one should be waking up any moment. Indulge yourself in these pic's that we couldn't download due to our move.
