Yesterday afternoon when I spoke to my mother she had asked me if I've felt little flutters of the baby yet. I told her that I haven't and according to my pregnancy books I should feel the fluttering between 18-23 weeks.
LAST NIGHT ABOUT 11:15PM I FELT FLUTTERING!!!
At the time when I felt the flutter I kept very still and thought something to the affect of "that's weird". I waited a little while before I said anything to Marc who was sitting right next to me to see if it would happen again. After waiting I finally told Marc what I'd felt and he completely believed that in fact it really was the baby. I was in disbelief the whole time thinking, "no it couldn't be, no it must of been something else, so early"?? It's funny though because I've been in denial about some other of my signs of pregnancy, like in the begining when my stomach was getting a lil' bigger and firmer for example, I thought it was just bloating. I have a tendancy to dismiss and not believe at first. And I still have the "I can't believe I'm pregnant" moments. Marc was trying to convince me that it was the baby and he read from one of our magazines that in week 15 the mother will feel the baby move.
After much thought I knew that what I felt was in fact the baby, I wasn't going to deny my baby's first "hello". I've never felt that feeling before in my belly. The fluttering felt exactly that, it was very distinctive and it couldn't have been anything else.
What I also remembered from one of our preg. books is that mothers who've been pregnant before are able to identify baby's fluttering earlier than first time mom's who are not as experienced and in tune with their body.
